Articulation of the left and right innominates at the pubic symphysis forms one joint while articulation of the innominates to the sacrum at the sacro-iliac joint forms another joint.  When viewed anterosuperiorly the joining of these bones creates a bony ring.   Stability and limited flexibility are features of these joints. Additionally, the articulation of the femur with the acetabulum forms the hip joint.
