Muscles of the pelvis include those that work on the lower limb (collectively referred to as the lateral rotators of the thigh) and the pelvic diaphragm which is made up of the levator ani muscle and the coccygeus muscle. All somatic innervation is provided by branches of the lumbosacral plexus.
