TO GET NETWORK SERVICESBefore using the network here at Hopkins, you must register your computer, using this form (PDF format)). It’s easy to do, but you need to know a few things about your computer. Note: you MUST have a network card (NIC/Ethernet Card), to connect to the network. You must be able to connect to the network without using your modem. If you cannot do this, you need to purchase a network card (NIC/ethernet card).
b) Click on RUN (a dialog box will appear) – (see arrow 2)
c) In the dialog box type CMD and click OK (a command line window will appear)
d) In the command window, type IPCONFIG /ALL and press
RETURN or ENTER. e) (a list of items will appear on the screen).
f) You are interested in the PHYSICAL ADDRESS (highlighted in above example). Make a note of this number and enter it on the attached form. 1) MAC (media access control) address - identifies your computer on the network. a) Click on the Apple (see arrow 1) in the upper left hand corner of screen, and a list
