I. Orientation of Pelvis |

WebLecture Slide 02 |

Orientation of the pelvis is presented as though the individual were in standard anatomical position, standing erect on flat feet. The skeletal pelvis, pelvis meaning basin, is often thought of as bowl shaped but this bowl is tilted anteriorly so that most of the brim can be seen from the anterior view. The lateral view is identical from either the right or left side, as the two paired bones, the innominates, that make up the pelvis are mirror images of one another. The sacrum makes up the most posterior portion of the bony pelvis. The sacrum can be seen in full from the posterior view along with the ischial tuberosities of the innominates. |
