The sacrotuberous and sacrospinous ligaments cross the sacral inlet from the lateral surface of the sacrum to the anterolaterally placed ischial tuberosity and ischial spine, respectively. These ligaments are extremely strong and sometimes feel ossified.  These ligaments, therefore, can place limitations on certain dimensions the pelvic cavity.
